The challenge

Co-op rules required board approval for any plumbing changes and forbade work hours outside 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Service elevator could only handle cabinets up to 30 inches wide. Homeowner had a sublet starting eight weeks out.

What we did

  • 1Designed the refresh to keep the existing cabinet boxes and just reface the fronts, no plumbing relocation, qualified for the simplified approval lane.
  • 2Specced 24-inch and 30-inch cabinet fronts only, all under the elevator limit, no rigging needed.
  • 3Templated quartz with a Saturday turnaround so the install crew could work full weeks inside the 9-to-4 window.
  • 4Packaged the alteration document, COIs and product specs for the board in one PDF, approved on the first submission.
